Takayna is an ancient, pristine wilderness area in northwest Tasmania and is one of the world’s last remaining tracts of cool temperate rainforest. Home to critically endangered species, including the Tasmanian Masked Owl, it is under threat from mining expansion, deforestation, and logging by the wood-chipping industry for paper production. Only protection through World Heritage listing can safeguard Takayna into the future.
The endangered Tasmanian Masked Owl is the focus of the of the poster – and is shown in the form of a paper sculpture to make reference to paper production as a driver of environmental destruction via the wood-chipping industry.
